Building Confident, Inspired, Strong Children
At Legacy Dance, we are passionate about creating a supportive, positive, and joyful experience for all of our students.
Our classes provide a safe and nurturing non-competitive environment where all students feel comfortable and free to express themselves. Legacy encourages and develops talent, celebrates the achievements and growth of each student, and welcomes every dancer regardless of their gender, age, shape, size, or ability.
Through dance, kids find a fun and exciting way to exercise and socialize, while developing a positive self-image and pride in accomplishment. We promise that after class, your little one will have a huge grin on their face and feel confident, inspired, and strong.
Classes for Everyone
Legacy Dance offers classes for both girls and boys ages 2 and up. There truly is something for everyone, from beginner to advanced levels.
For our younger, recreational students, our classes help develop creative expression, self-esteem, confidence, and coordination.
Our comprehensive training, rooted in technique, will help nurture and develop skilled and versatile senior dancers.
Benefits of Dance
Dance is obviously a great route to physical fitness, coordination, poise, and grace. But it also provides huge emotional, social, and cognitive benefits as well as the physical. Students learn valuable life skills through dance and develop their maturity, understanding, persistence, and sense of responsibility, which will help them through every part of their lives.
Emotional Wellbeing
Dance certainly promotes emotional health and maturity. A child’s body is constantly growing and changing, and by learning to move to accomplish dance steps, they become comfortable with their own bodies. With this, and the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from learning and performing, children build their confidence and self-esteem. Dance also offers a structure for emotional release, relieving stress and serving as an outlet for creativity and personal expression.
Social Awareness
Dancing is a very social activity. Through classes, children improve their interpersonal and communication skills, grow relationships, and build a sense of community. Learning how to work as part of a team helps dancers build cooperation, collaboration, and trust. And, as they work with others, they will develop their own skills of self-management and responsible decision-making.
Cognitive Development
It turns out that dance builds both sides of the brain! The focus, repetition, and discipline required in dance all improve a student’s memory and aid in their cognitive development. Dance lessons also help to spark creativity and expression in young children and help them to develop an appreciation for the arts in general.
Physical Development
The old saying is “Dance is just like any other sport, only harder.” There are few other activities that require the range of motion, coordination, strength, and endurance that dance does. It uses every muscle group and is an excellent form of exercise for total body fitness. But the most amazing thing is that even the youngest child can dance to give their growing bodies the exercise they need to improve their flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina.
